It shows that more people are starting new businesses

Ukrainians have opened over 74 thousand new individual entrepreneur businesses in the first quarter of 2024, according to the Unified State Register. That's 33.6% more than in the same period last year. Most of these businesses are being opened in Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions. Entrepreneurs in the fields of trade, providing individual services, and IT are leading the way.
Ukrainians have opened a record-breaking 74,050 new individual entrepreneur businesses in the first quarter of 2024. That’s a third more than last year and 18% more than before the start of the full-scale invasion in 2021.
The undeniable leader in the number of new businesses in recent years remains the capital. In the first quarter of this year, Kyiv registered 10,252 new businesses, accounting for 13.8% of the total. In second place is Dnipropetrovsk region with 6,800 newly created businesses. Rounding out the top three leaders is Kyiv region with 5,700 new individual entrepreneur businesses.
A quarter of newly registered individual entrepreneurs are engaged in retail trade — this is the most popular sector, unchanged over the last 4 years. Among the most sought-after business directions among Ukrainian entrepreneurs are also provision of individual services and computer programming.
