Ukraine continues to increase its exports of goods

9 December 2024

$46.35 billion — Ukraine’s earnings from the export of goods and services in the first 10 months of 2024, according to the National Bank of Ukraine. About 63% of all exported goods consist of food products and raw materials for their production. Among the services provided abroad, IT holds the largest share. However, following a surge in 2022, the IT sector’s share continues to decline.

Ukraine’s exports of goods and services in 2024 amounted to $46.35 billion, marking a 10% increase compared to the same period last year.

The majority — 70%, or $32.25 billion — came from goods, while less than a third, $14.09 billion, was from services exports.

Despite gradual growth, the total export volumes still lag behind 2021 levels. Compared to 2021, exports are 29% lower, as they reached $65.15 billion that year.

This year, 44% of Ukraine’s total exports consisted of food products and raw materials for their production, mainly from the agricultural sector. This represents a 14% growth compared to last year.

Exports of metals grew by 14% over the year, reaching $3.78 billion. This sector now accounts for 8% of Ukraine’s total exports.

Overall, the volume of exported goods increased by 12.7% compared to last year. However, it remains 1.6 times lower than in 2021.

The export of services in 2024 amounted to $14.09 billion, marking a 4% increase compared to the previous year. However, it is also 4% lower than in 2021.
