712,453 new debts appeared among Ukrainians over the year

The largest amount of debt is due to unpaid traffic fines

Over 360,000 New Debts Accumulated by Ukrainians since May 2024, Ukrainians have accumulated over 360,000 new debts, according to the Unified Register of Debtors. In total, the Register has been updated with 712,453 entries in 2024. The most common debts are fines for traffic violations, penalties for administrative offenses, and contributions to the state budget. Currently, the Debtors’ Register contains nearly 9 million entries.

As of now, there are 8.8 million debts recorded in the Unified Register of Debtors. Since May, the number of debts has increased by 360,000.

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the Register has grown by nearly 2 million debts.

The largest number of entries in the Debtors’ Register relates to traffic fines for violations of road traffic regulations — 1.8 million, or 21% of the total. Another 20% are penalties for administrative offenses — 1.7 million. Debts owed to the state budget currently amount to 1.6 million, or 18.5% of the total debt. The fourth largest category is debts related to utility payments — 727,000, or 8%. Over 21% of debts cannot be attributed to any of the categories mentioned above.

At the same time, property seizures based on enforcement documents increased by 24%, reaching 15,600 cases. The number of confiscations in criminal cases, excluding corruption-related ones, also rose by nearly 17%, reaching 11,800 cases.
